Chalet-Hotel La Terrasse de Verchaix **
Chalet Hotel Facilities

You’re guaranteed a warm reception at La Terrasse de Verchaix and will be shown personally to your room by our friendly staff! All individual guest rooms have en-suite facilities - see our prices for these details - and four are south facing, enjoying the most magnificent panoramic views of the Giffre Valley and Grand Massif ski area, including the resort of Morillon, home to Antoine Dénériaz, the 2006 Men’s Olympic Downhill Champion!

Our two and four bedded rooms mean La Terrasse de Verchaix is the ideal Alpine chalet hotel venue for an activity orientated, all year round family holiday.

Jacuzzie - Hot Tub Dec 09 Bar with comfortable seating area

Our welcoming bar is a gathering place for holidaymakers and locals alike … it was once the front room of a village house, before being extended and converted to an hotel and restaurant in 1963/4. The bar is equipped with satellite television and sports channels in both English and French, and offers a selection of beers, local and regional wines and speciality Alpine liqueurs, tea and coffee, as well as juice and soda for the children.

History of the Chalet Hotel

Photographs of the original village house and subsequently the hotel through the 1960s and 1970s have pride of place above our bar. Our neighbour, and the hotel’s first owner, Mme. Christian Humblot, is a frequent visitor with many a story to share … in French naturally! As the Departments ‘finest and best loved gardener’ she is largely responsible for the magnificent floral arrangements which adorn the balconies and tubs throughout the warm summer months. You’re sure to be impressed!

Restaurant & Menus

The jewels in our Alpine crown are undoubtedly the hotel restaurant and terrace which offer quite simply the best views of the valley in the whole of the valley!Louise is a trained chef, favouring international cuisine alongside some of the region’s speciality dishes. During your stay with us, you have to try the house speciality, ‘Potence Flambé au Whisky’ ... it isn’t available anywhere else in the vicinity!

The natural beauty of the French Alps together with our enviable, south-facing (sunny) aspect and location, make the chalet hotel’s restaurant and terrace the ideal spot for wedding receptions and family gatherings/celebrations.

We are pleased to present a fine selection of Savoie wine and cheeses, in our restaurant; we also offer mouth-watering regional specialities, such as Tartiflette, and Berthoud (see below). Our terrace is open to diners during the summer months, weather and temperatures permitting of course!
